Hen Reedbeds
Hen Reedbeds is made up of reedbeds, fens, dykes and pools created in 1999 by the Suffolk Wildlife Trust and is a gem of a reserve, a must visit if you are in the area. With the reeds so tall, our eyes followed what birds were in the air. I’m going with my three favourites birds from the day. The first two are kestrel and hobby both of which we watched hunt for some considerable time. I will offer no apology for putting in multiple shots as they were both spectactular to watch. The third bird was about as far away from the viewpoint as you could get and with so much heat haze it was very difficult to photograph. This was only the second time I have seen this species and apparently it was the first time it had been seen on the reserve. So no apologies for the heat haze in the final image which is of a purple heron.
