Westhay Moor
Somerset Wildlife Trust’s Westhay Moor National Nature Reserve is an absolute gem and a real wildlife treasure trove. I visited in early July 2025 and the first image below was taken at the Island Hides. Some of you will recognise John (below) who regularly volunteers his time as Westhay.

The ponds on the Mire were alive with dragonflies and damselflies. Skylarks and Hobbies flew close while Lapwing and Raven chased each other around.

Walking along one of the droves, a Norfolk Hawker (not common in this area) zipped along its territory and by pure chance landed close enough to photograph.

Butterflies and moths were in abundance. The moth above has a wingspan of between 16-20 mm. Species : Yponomeuta.
