Mr Frost

Saturday, 25th November and the first real frost of 2023. An absoloutely stunning morning and an opportunity to visit RSPB Ham Wall not to be missed. The wildlife was spectactular with sightings of fieldfare, redwing, treecreeper, firecrest, goldcrest and Cetti’s to name a few of the smaller birds… but this page is not about the birds, its about frost on the plants. The temperature was -2 Centrigrade, the sun was throwing out its best early morning light and Mr Frost had paid a visit. Here are some of the images I took this morning.

I know I said this page was not about birds but there were so many robins out in the sun this morning trying to get warm after a very cold night. They too had felt the hard, cold touch of Mr Frost so are as much a part of this page as are plants.

I have a great affection for robins and couldn’t help but feel close to them this morning. Several times I heard wing beats of both robins and great tits as they tried to catch my attention by flying passed my ears as I sat watching them. Several times they flew close to look me in the eye, one sat beside me for at least 5 minutes, another perched on my hand and another perched on Mike’s camera. I know they are asking for food but I can’t help feeling they are asking for so much more.
